Hebrews 8:7, NIV We only emphasize that Christian life we are in is not based on another form of religious ritual but on a covenant. The question is what type of covenant are you in? Is it a covenant of religion or a covenant of love? It should be a covenant of love. Love is a person and that is God (see 1 John 4:16). The covenant we are in is a covenant based on who He is and not on who we are. It's based on what He has done and not on what we have done. When you sign an agreement form, you understand what type of covenant or agreement you are signing in. And this is the reason why still many Christians missed the true essence of Christianity. It's because they don't understand the covenant they are in. In result, many are so called Christians are still living a life like they don't have Christ. There's no real transformation happened. "But whoever is united with the Lord is one with him in spirit"
1 Corinthians 6:17
You maybe hearing preachers telling their congregations that they heart is wicked and their thoughts is toxic. That's not true when you are a child of God. The truth is, when you were in Christ you became one with him in spirit (see 1 Corinthians 6:17). Your soul part which is your mind, will and emotion became united with the Holy Spirit which is the love of God (see Romans 5:5). You were put into Christ, your old sinner self has died (see Colossians 3:3). In fact, you are now a new creation in God's eyes. The old self has gone (see 2 Corinthians 5:17).
But wait a minute, there was a price. Yes it is free but it was costly. It takes the blood of the One and only Son, Lord Jesus Christ to paid our freedom (see Colossians 3:13-14). When our Lord Jesus Christ died on the cross, we died with Him. Our toxic identity as a sinner that's include our thoughts and emotions was crucified with Him. When He rose from the dead, we also rose with Him that we may live a new life. (Romans 6:4-6)
But wait a minute, it doesn't happen automatically. Our part is to believe Christ and what He has done. When we believe it, we are regenerated by the Holy Spirit from within (see Titus 3:5-6).
So today, child of God. You are not toxic. You are now divine. You are the righteousness of God in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:21). There maybe toxic thoughts and emotions but it doesn't comes from within you. It comes from the outside you. It comes from the world. It comes from the devil (see 1 John 4:4). Christ is now living inside you (see Galatians 2:20). Your life today is a life led by the Holy Spirit (see Romans 8:14). You are not on your own.
So don't ever count yourself wicked. You are not toxic. You are now a child of God. Your thoughts and emotions are now precious in God's eyes. The God of all grace who called us is the same God who works in us through the Holy Spirit given us the desire to do what pleases Him (see Philippians 2:13).
You are a totally new creation from within. So don't devalue yourself. Your heavenly Father delights in you. His blessing and favor is on you paid by the precious blood of the Lamb.
