For if there had been nothing wrong with that first covenant, no place would have been sought for another. Hebrews 8:7, NIV We only emphasize that Christian life we are in is not based on another form of religious ritual but on a covenant. The question is what type of covenant are you in? Is it a covenant of religion or a covenant of love? It should be a covenant of love. Love is a person and that is God (see 1 John 4:16). The covenant we are in is a covenant based on who He is and not on who we are. It's based on what He has done and not on what we have done. When you sign an agreement form, you understand what type of covenant or agreement you are signing in. And this is the reason why still many Christians missed the true essence of Christianity. It's because they don't understand the covenant they are in. In result, many are so called Christians are still living a life like they don't have Christ. There's no real transformation happened. Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.
Matthew 7:1-2
Judgemental spirit comes from a religious mindset.
When our Lord Jesus taught that verse to the people it was taught long before He was crucified on the cross. But we are not living before the cross. We are now after the cross. There's a change now. Christ crucified on the cross in our behalf. There is now justification. There is now no condemnation in Christ (see Romans 8:1)
Friends, God is no longer evaluating us based on what we have done but based on what Christ has done on the cross. You were washed, holy and justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of God (see 1 Corinthians 6:11). It is not by your own name and your own effort. It was Christ complete finished work freely given to us by grace. Thank you God for your grace!
So don't be harsh for yourself. Don't be harsh for others. The fact that you are judgemental to others is the fact that you are also judgemental to yourself. Don't do it. The truth is, Christ was treated harshly on that cross in our behalf that we might receive undeserved favor from God in Him (see 2 Corinthians 5:21, Psalms 5:12). Don't see God as your guidance counselor. God doesn't have a record book of your wrong doings. Christ paid it all on the cross!
Don't even see God as your employer. He is your Heavenly Father who loves you as you are. Who made you highly favored in Christ!
There is God's abundance of grace, mercy, and love above our failures. God is not full of laws, He is full of grace and truth. In fact, grace and truth came by Jesus Christ (see John 1:14,17). The bible says, where sin abounded, grace abounded much more (see Romans 5:20).
So what's God's response in the midst of our abundant failures? Its abundance of grace and not abundance of punishment.
So be gracious to yourself because God is gracious to you. There is grace all over your whole being and His name is Jesus.
