Understanding that you are a tripartite being has a great part in understanding your identity in Christ. Know that you are a human consist of three components and that is spirit, soul and body.
26 Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” [Genesis 1:26]
The word Us and Our speaks of a Triune God which consist of the Father, Son and the Spirit. We are created in the likeness of God. If God is a Triune-God we are also created in the same likeness as a Triune-Man consist of the spirit, soul and body.
Our spirit part is where the Spirit of God dwells. Our soul part is where our emotion, mind and freewill dwells. Our body part is where our physical senses dwells.
Your soul part is where you really are. The good news is, your soul has been washed, sanctified, justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of God through the complete finished work of Christ on the cross. Through that sacrifice, your body has been made holy. The Spirit of God has been deposited in you from the moment you had believed the Lord Jesus. Your soul being and the Spirit of God becomes one now from the view of heaven.
The question is where do you draw strength today? Do you draw strength from the body or flesh which is the real time senses that can interpret what's happening around your physical world? Or do you draw strength from the spirit which is the Spirit of God that dwells in you?
Seeing yourself one in the Spirit of God is a revelation that you have been raised from the grave and made seated together with Christ far above any evil schemes in the heavenly places (see Ephesians 2:4-6). When you have seen that, you will realize that you are in the side of victory and not on depeat. You will realize that you are a victor and not a victim. You will realize that you are above and not beneath. You will realize that you a child and not a slave. You will realize that you are ruling and not overruled.
The reason why many believers are still unsatisfied and still walking in a life of defeat? Still shacked in the chain of sin? That's because they don't understand where they are.
Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself, [1 Corinthians 6:19, NLT]
As the scripture says, realization is very important. Realize that the Spirit of God lives in you, and you are now in Him. Realize that it's all because of the finished work of Christ and not because of your works it is made possible. Hallelujah!!!
