The Assurance of Brighter Days

But the path of the righteous is like the light of dawn That shines brighter and brighter until the full day. The way of the wicked is like darkness; They do not know over what they stumble.

Proverbs 4:18-19

We can be assured of brighter days ahead. We can expect that greater things are yet to come. We can believe for a future that is blessed. Why? Its because we have been made the righteousness of God in Christ.

At the cross, Christ who knew no sin to be sin for us that we might become the righteousness of God in Him (see 2 Corinthians 5:21). This is the truth if you are in Christ, you are righteous. If you are not in Christ, you are wicked. Our righteousness or wickedness doesn't based on our obedience and disobedience. It depends on the obedience of Christ and disobedience of Adam (see Romans 5:19)

Because of the disobedience of first Adam, we became a sinner regardless of our good works. Sin entered the world because of that disobedience. Humanity became a sinner, seperation from God came in because of that one man's disobedience. But take note, our bad news story doesn't end there.

The good news is Christ obeyed. John the baptist said, "Behold the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world'. It was fully fulfilled when Christ hanged on the cross to became the lamb offering that took away the sin of the world. Through that offering we have been made holy once and for all (see Hebrews 10:10).

Know that you have been washed, sanctified, justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of God (see 1Cor.6:11). We that was once far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ (see Eph.2:13). We no longer live on ourselves, but it is Christ who lives inside of us now. The gates of hell shall not prevail against us because of the power of God working in us.

This is the assurance of our blessedness. This is the assurance of our better days. It is by daily conscious awareness of who God is, what Christ has done and who we are now in Him.
